New chair for CNWHC

One of the region’s longest-established hockey clubs has achieved a major milestone by electing the first female chair in its 118-year history.
Coventryand North Warwickshire Hockey Club has appointed Charlotte Lea as chair after previous incumbent David Kettley decided to step down after four years at the helm.
After being voted into the role at this year’s AGM, Charlotte has taken over the chair’s duties at the club which has over 200 members and runs four men’s and two ladies’ sides as well as a large junior section.
Charlottesaid she was delighted to have been voted into the role and thanked the previous chair for his hard work.
“I am extremely proud to have been voted in as the first female chair in the 118-year history of Coventry and North Warwickshire Hockey Club,” she said.
“The committee and I would also like to thank David for the outstanding contribution he has made to the club as chair over the past few years – particularly in relation to developing the club’s junior section.
“He has left some big shoes to fill, but it is a real honour to have been asked to take up this position and I am looking forward to putting everything I can into helping this club develop further and maintain its status as the leading hockey club in the city.”
The club has also announced it will be relocating from its former home at the Westwood Club and Reading Rooms, on Westwood Heath Road, to Coventry University Sports Ground, less than a mile away.
David said: “This is a major milestone in the history of the club and I wish Charlotte the best of luck in the role.
“It has been a pleasure to head up the club supported by some very dedicated committee members and captains.”
Men’s first team captain Ben Clarke has also opted to step down and will be replaced by Sam Clarke.
