Mixed Team Report

Coventry and North Warwick played through 130 minutes of hockey on sunday at the Zulus HTC tournament at Bablake school, drawing their 1st game 0-0 against B side, then winning against Berkswell 1-0 thanks to a Kevin Hackleton goal, and CCUHC 2-0 win with a goal each from Kev and Sam Key before drawing our final match of the pool to UCLAN 0-0.
After a small break we faced Warwick in the semi final, who played with no goalkeeper throughout the day but this was to be their downfall as the coventry attack pressed forward and were rewarded with the game winning goal after sam found the backboard.
The Final was hard fought with both sides equal to each other, both teams having chances which both keepers were equal to, after the final whistle the score was 0-0, after a few minutes we played 10 minutes extra time golden goal, however UCLAN were a bit fitter and in the dying seconds were awarded a penalty corner, after some fiddling around in the D they scored the goal which they had been searching for in the 29 minutes in previous.
Everybody played well together given we don't play together normally, Rory dusted off his pads in his first outing in goal since Christmas and in the words of some team members was the player of the tournament having not conceded in 129 minutes of hockey making some fantastic saves, and the defence also held strong ensuring little broke through to the D.
Last year we didn't get out of the pool stage, this year we were runners up, next year maybe winners? We shall wait and see.
