Club open day success

More than 100 people turned up to celebrate one of the longest-established sports teams in the city moving to a new home.
Coventry and North Warwickshire Hockey Club, which was established in 1895, recently relocated all four of its men’s teams and the two ladies and junior teams to Coventry University Sports Ground, on Westwood Heath Road, from its previous playing venue at the University of Warwick.
The site will also act as the club’s new base following a relocation from the Westwood Club and Reading Rooms.
The open day was held for potential and existing members with friendly games taking place for the men’s and ladies first teams, while junior attendees were also given the chance to play.
The men’s first team edged out Hampton-in-Arden 4-3, while the ladies drew 0-0 with Bournville.
Visitors were also treated to food and a raffle in the club house after the games.
Thanks to all who attended and to everyone involved in organising a great event.
